Day Trippin': Gold Discovery Day

Looking for a fun day trip? Here is a fun idea, and it's educational too! 

Visit Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park on Saturday, January 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as we celebrate Gold Discovery Day and the Grand Opening our our new museum.

  • Join the museum at 10 a.m. for the grand opening of our new exhibits.
  • Join park docents around Sutter's Mill for living history demonstrations, and games and crafts for the kids from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Take part in a log sawing contest.
  • Learn about mining techniques during the gold rush.
  • Visit the millworker's cabin and learn about the gold discovery and the people who were part of that monumental event.
  • Visit the blacksmith shop and learn about the Monroe family.
  • Join the museum at 2 p.m. as we kick off our 2019 lecture series with stories of John Sutter and Jennie Wimmer.
